Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 – Review of episode 22 ‘World’s End’

Written by M.

Well Simmons asks the questions of all questions to Fitz! “Do you want to kill AIDA?”

Only to be interrupted by the framework shutting down, just as YoYo entered. But the framework shutting down turned out to be a good thing. Everything slowly disappeared and when everything else was gone, it was time for Hope to disappear and for Mack and YoYo to come back home.

AIDA is preparing to make the world end, when Robbie shows up. He wants the Darkhold and finds out that she’s not the same as when he left. But the good news is that he is able to hurt her. But of course this isn’t something the Marvel Gods could let happen, so the Ghost Rider jumped into Coulson’s body and Coulson kicked some Darkhold ass.

There were some great comical moments in this episode. Like Coulson telling Talbot about life at S.H.I.E.L.D. “I have a cybernetic hand. I’ve been to another planet. This stuff happens at S.H.I.EL.D.”. Or what about May just standing there with a head in her hand. And another one of Coulson, about Robbie and Daisy fighting together, “I missed it, didn’t I? You two together, and we missed it”. Well Coulson, I’ve got your back, here they are.

Another thing that popped out was the ending. This is something that happens every once in a while, it’s where Joss Whedon reminds you of his other work. He did it last week with jumping through the portal out of the framework. He did it this week with the ending, it was a lot like the extra scene of The Avangers, where they all go out to eat.

And also;

  • What deal did Coulson and the Ghost Rider make? Will he come back for him? Will he be able to out of it or will it bite him in the ass?
  • More questions! Where is Coulson at the end? What is he working on? Aahhhhh I’m left with so many questions!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return in the fall.

Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 – Review of episode 21 ‘The Return’

Written by M.

Didn’t I tell you that we hadn’t seen the last of Robbie, Ghost Rider, Reyes. Through the portal they once came back to this dimension, now appears Robbie. Will he help the team defeat AIDA for once and for all. This is something we’ll see in the season finale next week.

This week AIDA, or I guess it’s Ophelia now, found out what it means to be human, emotions and pain. And she doesn’t care much for that. Her solution? Destroy each and every one that hurt her and stood in the way of her happiness. Especially Fitz, destroy Fitz’s happiness.

All the while Fitz is facing his own demons, realizing who he was in the framework and the harm he did. He compares himself to Ward and I think it’s a good comparison. Ward only turned out the way he did because of his crappy family and Garrett, being a father figure to him, influencing him into becoming H.Y.D.R.A. All it took for Fitz to become so different was his father. With his father, not only in the picture, but raising him, Fitz became a sadistic human with no regard for (In)human life.

And also;

  • Seriously, how many of those Russian robots are out there?
  • YoYo went into the framework to save Mack, but in there she’s a lab rat.
  • And once again Talbot is after S.H.I.E.L.D. This man really shoot make up his mind and stick with it, this is getting annoying.
  • That look on Coulson’s face when May asked what she did and he just couldn’t tell her the truth.

Next is the season finale;

Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 – Review of episode 20 ‘Farewell, Cruel World!’

Written by M.

Oh boy, we will miss Tripp. I said it before, it’s his easy friendship personality that brought some light to SHIELD. But besides that we will also miss his self-confidence. And let’s face it, we need some more hook-ups on this show.

Well it’s a good thing that this framework isn’t real or Simmons would have destroyed her relationship with Fitz forever. I mean, has there ever been a relationship that wasn’t destroyed after one killed the other ones father? I don’t think so.

When finally finding the way out of the framework, Daisy and Simmons still need to convince everyone to take that leap of faith to get them out. Though Coulson is willing to believe and May is willing to follow Coulson. Simmons runs into trouble when Fitz catches up with her. But with a little help of Radcliffe, Fitz is pushed through the exit and Simmons follows. It’s then up to Daisy to convince Mack and though he believes her, he’s not willing to leave Hope for a world without her.

Once again there was a reference in this episode, thought this time it wasn’t towards any of the Marvel movies. This time it was towards the series that put Joss Whedon on the map and to one of the most emotional episodes in television history. Let me take you back to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, episode 5.22 The Gift. Does anyone see the resemblance?

But off course there was also a reference toward the Marvel movies, The Avengers this time. Remember how Coulson was wounded trying to stop Loki…

And also;

  • She actually did it, AIDA has become a real woman, this can’t be good. Well, anything AIDA hasn’t been good.
  • Where did she take Fitz?

Coming up next week;

Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 – Review of episode 19 ‘All the Madame’s Men’

Written by M.

Daisy is Quake again and demonstrates her powers in the best way, by pushing AIDA out of the window and it was awesome!

It’s nice to see how easy Tripp was to be friends with. In this crazy world, this frameworld but also the “real world”, friends are hard to come by. And when you do find them, they have the tendency to die. So being reminded about the good and kind hearted Tripp is nice.

Coulson seems to find his place at S.H.I.E.L.D. and with Mace dead, he does what he does best and what comes natural to him, taking the lead. Instead of fighting HYDRA in the dark, he leads SHIELD into the light and broadcasts the lies that HYDRA has told the world. Welcome back, Director Coulson.

And also;

  • I don’t want to say goodbye to Ward, this good and totally in love with Skye Ward. Can we please keep him?
  • Simmons found out AIDA’s plan to do a Pinocchio and become a real woman. Can they stop her in time?

Coming up next week;

Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 – Review of episode 18 ‘No Regrets’

Written by M.

We have a new face this week, though very familiar for Fitz since it’s his father. And I think it’s safe to say that this man is a bad influence on Fitz. Also we have our second dead character making a return and this time in the face of Tripp. Right now I’m really hoping for a return of Bobbi and Hunter.

The framework life didn’t last long for Mace. Though he always hated his nickname The Patriot, he sure showed he is worthy of that name. When HYDRA bombs down a building in which our friends are trying to safe children from HYDRA, it’s Mace who saves everyone. When the building comes down, he throws himself into the rumble to safe a kid and then holds down the fort just long enough for the others to get out, but he goes down with the building. He gave his life for others to safe the world of HYDRA as a true Patriot.

May is major character this week. She is after Mace and gives, along with Fitz, the order that will mean the end of The Patriot. But she also realizes that she is on the wrong side and helps Daisy go through Terrigenesis. Welcome back to S.H.I.E.L.D. agent May, welcome back!

And also;

  • Mace died in the framework, which would mean he also died in “the real world”. But for now I’m going to be in denial. Mace has grown on me and I’m not ready for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to be without Mace.
  • Daisy’s smart remark towards AIDA, no matter what world she’s in, she will always have own Daisy style.

Coming up next week;

Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 – Review of episode 17 ‘Identity and Change’

Written by M.

Well one person who ended up for the better in the framework is Mack, in this world his beautiful daughter is still alive and they have the perfect father daughter relationship. But this changes when they are captured by Hydra and May uses Mack to trick Daisy. And it’s something he can’t live with.

Mace as it turns out, lead the resistance and Ward is his right hand. And I’m wondering, is he still drinking the Kool-Aid or is he an actual Inhuman in the framework?

Radcliffe is living the life he dreamed about, together with his love Agnes. Well not for long as our friends need his help to escape the framework. But where our friends go, Hydra follows and all this leads to Fitz killing Agnes, leaving Simmons devastated.

I find that framework Coulson is a lot like the Coulson we saw on The Avengers. When he Mace, The Patriot, he was star struck, something we also saw when he met Steve, Captain America, Rogers. Speaking of Captain America, did you notice the reference to Captain America: The First Avenger?

And also;

  • How cute is Hope!
  • Coulson and his blue soap!

Coming up next week;

Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 – Review of episode 16 ‘What If…’

Written by M.

Oh my! Ward is back and I love it! But let’s face it, that is all there is to love in this framework world.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is out, H.Y.D.R.A. is loved, Simmons crawled her way out of her grave, Coulson is a teacher and Fitz is called the doctor and experiments of Inhumans. Mace and Mack haven’t been spotted yet. The only one who hasn’t changed that much is May. She is basically herself, except that now she believes in H.Y.D.R.A..

This episode was a typical first episode of a new storyline. Nothing major shocking, with the exception of Fitz kissing Madam Hydra a.k.a. AIDA. Characters are finding their ground, but this is a good thing. It means that getting Coulson, May, Fitz and Mace out of the framework isn’t an easy thing and they put a lot of work in this.

And also;

  • How sweet is it that at the end of the day, Coulson remembered Daisy?
  • How long do you think Ward will stick around? I for one, hope he will be around for a long time.
  • Do you think we’ll be reunited with any other old characters, and who do you think they’ll be?

Coming up next week, we’ll see Mace, Mack and Radcliffe;

That’s it for the big broadcast networks, but there are so many of series that are among our favorites that are on other channels or can be streamed. I will also make a list for these, however will have to wait to later this week.

So how are you feeling? Are you still breathing? Have your favorites series been renewed? As for me, I am grieving the loss of 2 Broke Girls and Frequency. But at the same time I am over the moon that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is saved. For those series who haven’t heard news about their fate, it’s not looking good.

Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 – Review of episode 15 ‘Self Control’

Written by M.

Dreams can come true!
You all know by now that I pretty much think this season has been a big bore… Thought that as much as the second part of season 3. But we should also all know by now that things are never that simple in a show of Joss Whedon. And man did he deliver this week!

So much has happened, so let me walk you through this.
Last week the episode ended with Fitz-Simmons finding out that Coulson, Mack, Mace and Daisy were replaced by LMD’s and LMD Coulson waking up LMD-May. So here they are, panicking and frantically trying to keep their cool around the LMD’s and trying to find a way to stay safe. All the while the LMD-team is trying to get all Inhumans to come in, probably to kill them off all at once. But when Fitz-Simmons get to a secure room to figure out their next step, they find out that one of them is a LMD as well. Hearts are breaking all around the world to see this loving couple stand against each one another, face off style. And it turns out that Fitz is the LMD, though he played his role Oscar worthy. Simmons eventually overpowers him by using her trusty brain and gets away, though she is wounded. Since 4 LMD’s arrived at the compound last week, who will be Simmons only ally?

Radcliffe is spending a lot of time in this framework he created, probably to be with his beloved Agnez, and let’s AIDA do all of the heavy lifting. Obviously this won’t be lasting very long anymore. But for now she gives him an update of the status of the plan and reveals that it’s Simmons and Daisy who will need to be replaced next.

While checking the containment rooms before the arrival of all the Inhumans, Daisy walks into her LMD replica. Or more correctly, she walks in on 20 replica’s. And LMD-Mack is already on his way to stop her. But Daisy is smart and replaces one of her replacements and this way, she is able to disarm LMD-Mack and gets away. She gets into the security camera’s and sees the footage of Coulson and Mace standing over Fitz’s body.

It seems that LMD-Coulson and LMD-Mace and some nameless S.H.I.E.L.D. agents found the body of LMD-Fitz. When those agents discover that Fitz was an LMD, and not the missing Simmons as Coulson and Mace say she is, they get killed. Daisy witnesses all of this on screen before they cut out the security feeds. This is when Daisy looks around her and sees a blood trail, leading her to Simmons who’s crawled away into a corner, scared and sure that she is the only one left.

What we was coming for weeks now, finally happened. AIDA could no longer be controlled by Radcliffe and he found out in the cruelest way. She slid his wrists and as he was dying, she put him back into his framework.

Daisy and Simmons formed a plan to find out where the rest of their team is, which means going into Radcliffe’s framework. But in order to do that, they first need to take out the LMD-team and get away from them. How to do that? With gas, gas that will knock every human out in the compound. So whoever is left standing is a LMD and their enemy. While Daisy goes to fight LMD-Mace and then LMD-Coulson and LMD-Mack, to keep them distracted, Simmons goes to get some more allies. By waking up some knocked out agents, she gets together a team to get all other knocked out agents on the bus. They are very reluctant to believe her, until LMD-Mack comes through the wall in pieces.

On the verge of getting away with the equipment they need to enter the framework, a wounded Daisy and Simmons stubble upon LMD-May, who is LMD-Coulson’s contingency plan. But what LMD-Coulson didn’t count on, is that LMD-May has lived out her purpose, her purpose to get the Darkhold. So now, she isn’t programmed to follow, but can decide for her own, follow her own desires. Daisy and Simmons convince her to let them go and when LMD-Coulson gets to LMD-May she blows herself and LMD-Coulson up, with Daisy, Simmons and the other agents barely out of reach.
When they are joined by YoYo, Daisy and Simmons hack their way into the framework in order to find out where their friends are, leaving YoYo behind with specific instructions.

Waking up in this framework, Daisy finds herself in the tub, receiving a text to wake up her boyfriend and to come in. She immediately thinks that Lincoln must be here and steps out of the tub and into the bedroom. As she walks to the bed, hopeful of who is asleep, we can she her walking past a picture of her and her boyfriend. And this is where dreams are coming true! Because I’ve been wishing for them to be together right from the start, and things have become pretty boring lately. So who is it? Who will make his return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. after the hiatus, see for yourself;

So, needless to say I am stocked! My favorite character is returning and my favorite couple will finally be together! I’m just hoping this will last longer that just one episode and that he has brought his amazing abs with him.

But where are the others in this framework? Coulson is seen in front of a classroom, teaching the class on why to fear Inhumans. Mack is seen in front of an adorable blue house, picking up his daughter’s bike from the ground. Fitz is stepping out of a car in front of a big pricy building and helping a woman out of the car, though we don’t see who that is. And then we see Simmons, though not exactly. It seems that in this framework Simmons is dead, as we see her grave. And then there’s May, looking out of a window of a big ass building. But it’s not the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters or even the Avengers headquarters, no it’s the headquarters of HYDRA. So basically this framework is the world upside down.

And also;

  • Oh and also, AIDA made an LMD of Ivanov, but respected his wish to not fiddle with his brain. So now his brain is save stored in his head, which is in some kind of jar on the table.
  • Daisy telling Simmons how she always knows that Fitz and Simmons belong together, no matter how screwed up their lives are, was the most touching side of the Daisy we’ve seen all season.
  • AIDA wants to feel love, anger, wonder and joy, like a real person, proving that this story arc is nothing more than Marvel’s view of Pinocchio.
  • I’m wondering, is it possible to get an LMD replica of an Inhuman? Is it even possible to re-create those powers?
  • Where is Mace in this framework?

I for one cannot wait for this hiatus to be over and see the next episode in April.

Coming up on April 4th;

Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 – Review of episode 14 ‘The Man Behind the Shield’

Written by M.

Coulson and Daisy getting it on in a hand to hand fight, seriously the best scene of this season. Unfortunately it only lasted about 30 seconds since it was a simulation. And then they go off to Alaska to find Director Mace, only to find his battle suit, which had GPS, and a ‘Coulson-wall’. And thus a game of Treasure Hunt.

We get a look into a past mission of Coulson and May, with a surprisingly nice haircut, in Russia. Turns out they were heavily flirting back in the day, back when May just started dating Andrew. If only things didn’t work out with Andrew back then, Coulson and May would have been together for years already.

Mack needs to get of his high horse against Fitz. Sure he made a mistake to participate in Radcliffe’s AIDA project, but he has shown his remorse and has been trying to stop Radcliffe ever since then. Let it go man, just let it go.

Meanwhile Mace no longer has his Kool Aid Juice powers and is first beaten down by Ivanov and later by four other man, while AIDA stands by watching.

When the team finally finds Ivanov, it’s Coulson who wins the first round. Since Ivanov is more interested in telling Coulson his origin story, he just keeps on talking. But there is one thing that Coulson does better than anyone, and that is talking and shutting people up. Boom, that’s round one! The second round, he leaves to Daisy, who is happy to finally get it on with the head of the Watchdogs.

Mace is saved, Ivanov is down and AIDA escaped, probably with May. And that’s when things get interesting. It turns out that the reason why Fitz-Simmons had trouble getting in contact with Coulson, Mack and Daisy is because they’re not Coulson, Mack and Daisy. They are new LMD’s placed by AIDA, joined by LMD-Mace. And when Fitz-Simmons realize that, they realize that they can only trust each other from now on.

And also;

  • Seeing Mace shirtless and all sweaty like that isn’t bad, not bad at all. Could it be that we have a replacement for shirtless Ward. I hope so, because I like what I’m seeing.
  • Be honest, who forgot about the Watchdogs? I for one, totally forgot about that storyline.
  • I’m sorry, but I’m not really feeling the Coulson-May love connection. Maybe this would have worked back in season 1, but not anymore. Whereas in other shows the love connections keep building, till friendship just isn’t an option anymore, here it’s the other way around. Coulson and May work best as friends and a team, this whole love storyline feels to forced for me.

Coming up next week;
