Fall Schedule 2017

Written by M.

Oh, it’s that special time of year, the start of fresh season. You can just feel the excitement in the air as new series are about to launch and we finally get new episodes of our favorite series. The long wait is over. Next week we don’t have to search for what we possible need to watch now on TV, but we’ll have to make some tough choices on which show we watch and which shows we just ignore. As always there is an entire legion of new series fighting for your attention, how do you know what to watch? Well, this is where this article comes in handy. I’ve picked out all the new series of the mayor broadcasters, got a description and a trailer and put it down below. And off course, I’ve added my opinion. Please note, that I haven’t seen any episodes yet, just the trailers, so I don’t have any inside information.

The Good DoctorMondays at 10|9c

A young surgeon with autism and Savant syndrome is recruited into the pediatric surgical unit of a prestigious hospital. The question will arise: can a person who doesn’t have the ability to relate to people actually save their lives?

I can’t help but to compare this show to ‘House’, though in this case the main character will be blunt but not mean. And maybe a little less of the weird cases. Anyway, I’m interested, I will definitely watch this.

Kevin (Probably) Saves the WorldTuesdays at 10|9c

Kevin Finn (Jason Ritter) is not a good person. He’s not terrible, but he’s selfish, and clueless, and values material wealth and status over all else. And he’s beginning to realize that those things aren’t making him happy – in fact, he’s fairly miserable. Just when things seem to be at their worst, he finds himself tasked with an unbelievable mission… saving the world.

I can already say right now that this is not my show, I’m not even going to try this.

Marvel’s InhumansFridays at 9|8c

Marvel’s Inhumans explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city. After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where they are greeted with surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them. Now they must find a way to reunite with each other and return to their home before their way of life is destroyed forever.

This looks like my kind of show. I’m a huge fan of ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, so this show seems really exciting for me. Definitely a show for me to write reviews about.

The MayorTuesdays at 9:30|8:30c

Young rapper Courtney Rose needs his big break. For years he’s toiled away in a small inner-city apartment, making music in his junk-filled bedroom closet. Tired of waiting for opportunity, Courtney cooks up the publicity stunt of the century – running for mayor of his hometown in California to generate buzz for his music career. Unfortunately for Courtney, his master plan goes wildly awry, ending in the most terrifying of outcomes: an election victory. With the help of his mother and friends, including Valentina, Courtney will have to overcome his hubris if he wants to transform the struggling city he loves.

This could go either way. It could be the next new big comedy or it could sink before it even has time to swim. I will give this a try, mostly though because of Lea Michelle. I loved her in ‘Glee’ but I really hated ‘Scream Queens’.

Ten Days in the ValleySundays at 10|9c

Jane (Kyra Sedgwick) is an overworked producer and writer of a police series, who is not on the best terms with her ex, when her daughter Ali, goes missing in the middle of the night. What do you do when you are no longer shaping your own story? Who can you trust?

I can’t imagine this show not working, this must be a big hit. I can’t wait for it to start and you can expect reviews to come your way.

9JKLMondays at 8:30|7:30c

Josh Roberts, a divorced actor, lives in apartment 9K, with his family living in adjacent apartments: his parents live in 9J, while his brother, sister-in-law, and their newborn baby live in 9L. This unique situation prompts him to set boundaries while bonding with his family members.

To me this seems kinda lame, but who knows it could work. I’m at least giving it a chance.

Me, Myself and ITuesdays at 9:30|8:30c

The show looks at the life of Alex Riley, an inventor and businessman, at three points in his life: as a 14-year-old who moves to Los Angeles in 1991, as a 40-year-old dealing with the breakup of his marriage in the present day, and as a 65-year-old in 2042 who has just retired.

I like the trailer, but I’m not sure if this is going to work. But based on the trailer, I will give this a try.

SEAL TeamWednesdays at 9|8c

Failure is not an option for the Navy SEALs—the world’s most elite, Special Ops forces. In this action-packed new drama, these stealthy and fearless warriors conduct high-risk, clandestine missions against impossible odds.

A new show with David Boreanaz, who I’ve loved ever since his first appearance on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ (my favorite series ever!) and I can’t wait to watch this. I’m interested into what the difference will be between ‘The Brave’ and this show, but let’s find out. Also, am I the only one who looks at this as ‘Seeley Booth the early years’?

S.W.A.T.Thursday, time unknown

A locally born and bred SWAT sergeant is torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he’s tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in L.A. law enforcement.

Shemar Moore is back at television and he’s looking rough and so does this show. I like the trailer and I will be watching this.

Wisdom of the CrowdSundays at 8|7c

A tech innovator creates a cutting-edge crowd-sourcing hub to solve his own daughter’s murder, as well as revolutionizing crime solving in San Francisco.

As you probably guessed by now, I have a deep love for San Francisco. And most shows that are supposedly being set in San Francisco I watch, and yes, I know most shows aren’t even filmed in San Francisco. This show has the same feel of ‘APB’, which I liked, so I think I will like this show.

Young SheldonTuesdays at 8:30|7:30c

The series follows gifted 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper as he attends high school in East Texas and attempts to deal with the world around him while his otherwise normal family attempts to deal with him.

Do we even need to talk about this? If you like ‘The Big Bang Theory’, you need to watch this show.

GhostedSundays at 8:30|7:30c

A skeptic is forced to work with a firm believer of the paranormal on unexplained occurrences in Los Angeles.

I’m not even going to give this a try. To me it seems a little like ‘Scream Queens’ which I hated.

The GiftedMondays at 9|8c

In a world where mutated humans are treated with distrust and fear, an institute for mutants battles to achieve peaceful co-existence with humanity.

So here’s the thing. I love most things that come from Marvel. ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ‘The Avengers’, ‘Captain America’ and so on. But I don’t like ‘X-Men’, so this show has me a little worried. Based on the synopsis and trailer, I will love this show. But the fact that it’s set in the X-men universe, has me worried. But then again, Amy Acker is in this, so it must be good. Expect reviews to come your way.

The OrvilleThursday at 9|8c

Follows the crew of the not-so-functional exploratory ship in the Earth’s interstellar fleet, 400 years in the future.

Ever since she starred in ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ I’m a fan of Adrianne Palicki, so I will watch this show. However I’m not a fan of Seth MacFarlane so I don’t know how long I will watch this show. I fear that the trailer will have shown the most ‘funny’ items of the show and I wasn’t really laughing my ass off. It was more like I cracked a little smile. But who know, this show might be the biggest surprise of the season. And since 2 Broke Girls got cancelled, I’m in need of a new comedy.

The BraveSundays at 10|9c

This fresh, heart-pounding journey into the complex world of America’s elite undercover military heroes follows D.I.A. Deputy Director Patricia Campbell and her team of analysts as they wield the world’s most advanced surveillance technology from headquarters in D.C. All the while, Adam Dalton and his heroic Special Ops squad of highly trained undercover specialists use their unbreakable bond and commitment to freedom to save lives of innocent people and execute missions in some of the most dangerous places in the world.

So basically SEAL Team, but without David Boreanaz. Still intriguing enough to make me want to watch this.

Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez MurdersTuesdays at 10|9c

This new true-crime installment of the powerhouse “Law & Order” franchise delivers a gripping in-depth dramatization of the notorious murder case that changed America forever. When the Menendez brothers were tried on national TV for brutally killing their parents in Beverly Hills, their story became a national obsession. Now, the first edition of this anthology series delves into the players, the crime and the media circus, detailing the day-to-day battles of the trial and unveiling the shocking truth of what really went down when the cameras stopped rolling.

So being from The Netherlands and being only 2 when the murders happened I don’t know anything about these murders. But they intrigued me enough to look it up and it’s making me want to watch this. I’m not sure yet though if it would intrigue me enough for an entire series or if a documentary would have been better.

Will & GraceThursdays at 9|8c

Will & Grace is a hilarious series about two best friends. The twist is that Will is gay Grace is a straight interior designer. More than friends, but less than lovers, the two share a special bond and their personalities easily balance one another’s. In addition to the stable Will and Grace, the show features Will’s flamboyantly gay friend, Jack and Grace’s sarcastic, spoiled, and boozy assistant, Karen.

I loved the original show and I’m super excited for Will & Grace, and Karen and Jack to return!

The CW

DynastyWednesdays at 9|8c

Fallon Carrington is charismatic, cunning, and poised to become the new COO of her father’s global energy empire – or so she thinks. When her father, Blake Carrington, summons Fallon and her brother, Steven, home in Atlanta, Fallon is horrified to learn that the reunion isn’t to announce her promotion – but rather to make the acquaintance of their stepmother-to-be, Cristal. Family dynasties flow through blood, and Fallon would sooner draw blood than call Cristal “Mom”.

It could get a little too much ‘teen’, but I’m going to give this show a shot, it seems cool. It has a ‘Gossip Girl’ feel to it.

ValorMondays at 9|8c

An elite unit of U.S. Army helicopter pilots called the Shadow Raiders are sent on a top secret mission that goes terribly awry. Only two members of the team return safely: Warrant Officer Nora Madani and her commanding officer, Captain Leland Gallo. Nora and Gallo grow closer, and soon find themselves torn between duty, honor and desire.

After only watching the trailer I want to know what exactly happened, so I’m watching this!

So what will you be watching? And what shows do you want me to write reviews about?
